Audio Theatre - Tuesday - April 2nd - 6-8 pm - Presenting our WSCA Audio Theatre Players in “Seven Waves Away” - A Cast of 10 Actors Re-Creates This Intensely Dramatic Play First Aired 75 Years Ago Tonight on CBS…
              March 30th, 2013

LifeboatSince 2005 our own Audio Theatre Players group, made up of local volunteers, has performed 50+ re-creations of classic radio programming.  Tonight you will hear something that is unlike anything we have done before.

On the 75th anniversary of the CBS Columbia Workshop’s presentation of Richard Sale’s “Seven Waves Away” (April 2, 1938) you will hear this intensely dramatic play that is centered around a lifeboat adrift in the middle of the North Atlantic, some 1000 miles from land.  The boat has 33 passengers but is provisioned and designed for a maximum of 16.  The sea is rising as a violent storm approaches.  The Captain is mortally injured.  The First Mate is given command of the boat… but he is mentally unstable.  It is not known if a distress message sent from their ship before it went down was received.   The water is up to the gunwales of the overloaded lifeboat and the storm is intensifying.   “What to do and how to do it” is the focus of this story.

Our actors include: Jack Tracksler, Eddie McGee, Diane Ficarra, Mike Nelson, Jessie Raines, Chuck Curtis, Richard Jenisch, Shawn Henderson, Steve Shervanian, and Mike Coppinger.  The production was directed, recorded, and edited by John Lovering
Don’t miss this dramatic, and somewhat disturbing tale of survival, “Seven Waves Away” to be aired beginning at approximately 6:10 pm on Tuesday, April 2nd’s Portsmouth Community Radio Audio Theatre with host John Lovering.

Also heard on tonight’s broadcast: “The Whistler - Night Final” (Jan. 28, 1948)  starring Bill Forman; William Bendix as the lovable Chester A. Riley in “The Life of Riley - Cissie’s Marriage” (March 24, 1950); “Afloat with Henry Morgan- Part 45 - Jeffrey is Under Diatz’s Control” (1933) Australian Radio Adventure Series.

Locally at 106.1 FM  - Streaming live online at  or on your mobile device via the app “TuneIn” and search for WSCA-LP.  Thank you for supporting Portsmouth Community Radio.

                    February 13th, 2013

Seizure alert dogs have an amazing natural ability to warn of impending seizure activity up to an hour in advance—allowing their partners to move to a safe environment. for the duration of the seizure.  Canine Partners for Life (Pennsylvania) is one of only five organizations worldwide to place seizure alert dogs.   To date, CPL has placed over 500 service and home companion dogs in 43 states.

Jean will discuss this topic with Jackie Jarest who has applied for a Seizure Alert Dog (she lives in Greenland NH) and Harry Reed, care giver for and advocate of people with disabilities.
