You see, Burt Cohen is taking today off, and I will DJ his show, FINE AGED ROCK, from 10 to 12 noon! Its going to be an ALL DOO WOP show, from A to Z! Starting with The Heartbeats singing “A Thousand Miles Away” and ending with The Cadillacs doing “Zoom” ( if I get that far in 2 hours!)
It’s the roots of today’s rock and roll, from about 1955 to 1970.
You were right, it was Barry Mann who wrote the song that made my baby fall in love with me! I’ll kick it off with that great song!

Deja Vu? Some of our modern economic troubles might seem strangely redundant to members of the Constitutional Convention in 1787. Back then, there was much discussion among members about how to preserve the power of the wealthy against too much democracy. On this show, historian William Hogeland will provide insight into the original intentions and how the current power over our finance system was created. The struggles of toady go way back.
Noon to one at wscafm.org 106.1 or streaming online at www.wscafm.org and click on “listen now” at top of page.
Are We Too Dumb for Democracy? My first guest is U Michigan researcher Brendan Nyhan whose recent study shows that beliefs determine which facts we accept, perhaps rendering democracy unworkable.
Along similar lines of thought, former senator and presidential candidate Gary Hart is my guest on the second half. He will discuss his concerns about what¹s happening to the resources we hold in common. All focus seems to be on “what’s mine,” and what we all rely on is being neglected -at out peril.
All this follows Fine Aged Rock from 10 to noon. Listen locally at 106.1 FM or online at www.wscafm.org and click on “Listen Now”
Well, some of them anyway. Tuesday’s guest on The Burth Cohen Show is Chuck Collins co-founder of Wealth for the Common Good (along with Bill Gates Sr.)
Who cares if the top 1% has the same wealth as the bottom 90%? What does it matter? Can America remain a democratic republic if it doesn’t change? Or whould we just surrender citizen power to the very rich?
Tune in today Noon to 1 PM … locally at 106.1 FM or online at www.wscafm.org and click on “Listen Now”
How is it that liberals became collaborators in the plutocratic takeover?
What can Americans do now to preserve our threatened republic? I assure you, you won’t want to miss Chris Hedges at wscafm.org, live Tuesday Dec 7th noon to one ET, podcast later at theburtcohenshow.com. Chris Hedges will challenge and stimulate your thinking.
Chris Hedges is a senior fellow at The Nation Institute. His newest book is “Death of the Liberal Class.” Hedges has reported from more than 50 countries and has worked for The Christian Science Monitor, National Public Radio, The Dallas Morning News and The New York Times, for which he was a foreign correspondent for 15 years. He received the Amnesty International Global Award for Human Rights Journalism in 2002. The Los Angeles Press Club honored Hedges’ original columns in Truthdig by naming the author the Online Journalist of the Year in 2009, and granted him the Best Online Column award in 2010 for his Truthdig essay “One Day We¹ll All Be Terrorists.” He left the New York Times after being issued a formal reprimand for denouncing the Bush administration¹s invasion of Iraq.
And he’s been all over the national media lately.
Join Burt Cohen on “Fine Aged Rock” as he welcomes the legendary rock great, Graham Parker, at about 11:30. Be sure to listen in for this special show! 106.1 FM locally or www.wscafm.org and click on “Listen Now” to listen via the Internet.
Now it’s about governing. Burt’s guest on the Thursday after the election is Adele Stan, Washington Bureau Chief for Alternet. Which way will President Obama move: center or left? How powerful will the Tea Party be and how will the GOP handle them? Are elections from now on owned by big corporate interests? Might it all be good news for 2012?
You know where to tune in, noon to one, right after old reliable Fine Aged Rock.
