Tonight we go back to the 60’s for some fine R&B and soul favorites.

It’s going to be a wide sweep of Wilson Pickett, James Brown, Solomon Burke and others, all tied together with a heavy dose of Aretha.  I had my ear buds in most of yesterday and couldn’t get over how fresh Aretha’s music remains.

Whether you’re in your car, your kitchen, or still at the office, tune in to Soul Vaccination tonight from 6-8pm for your personal dance fest.   Only on WSCA-LP, Portsmouth Community Radio, 106.1 FM on your radio dial and streaming worldwide from www.portsmouthcommunityradio.org.  –Jenny Freeman

Audio Theatre - Tuesday - Jan 25th - 6-8 PM - Space Patrol / Our Miss Brooks / Life with Luigi / Groucho Marx / - Host: John Lovering
    January 23rd, 2011

Commander Buzz Corey and sidekick Cadet Happy are back with another 30th Century tale of the SPACE PATROL -  tonight:  they hop in the Terra V and go in “Search for the Asteroid”… and what to does one do when they find it?  Tune in and find out!  Originally broadcast on December 13, 1952!  Holy Smokin’ Rockets this is a good show!

Eve Arden as our favorite Madison High School English teacher, Connie Brooks, drops by tonight with an episode of Our Miss Brooks when everyone thinks that Mr. Conklin (Gale Gordon) has lost his job!   The whole gang is there… Mr. Boynton, Mrs. Davis,  Walter Denton and Stretch Snodgrass… don’t you be the only one absent from class!

J Carroll Nash stars in this excellent gentle comedy series entitled Life with Luigi about Luigi Basco, a first generation Italian immigrant who has settled in Chicago.  He is working in an antique store with his boss, Pasquale.. and attending English classes with a wise-cracking German student played by Hans Conreid.  Each show begins with Luigi writing a letter to his momma… and the show ends as he closes the letter.  Tonight’s show is entitled “Momma’s Black Silk Nightgown” which was originally aired on April 3, 1949.

Finally, the one and only Groucho Marx is heard in a compilation recording running about 13 minutes.. it is loaded with many very funny and witty quips and quotes made by Groucho from his  films, radio appearances, and from his television years on “You Bet Your Life!”

Join host John Lovering for a two-hour escape back to a simpler time of life … the Golden Age of Radio, where sound was the medium that united the country from the mid-1930′s until the mid 1950′s.  Consider this your personal invitation.

Listen locally at 106.1 FM or streaming online at www.wscafm.org and click on “Listen Now” at the top of the page.  Check out Audio Archives for past Audio Theatre shows!

Portsmouth At Large - Monday - January 24th - 9-10 AM - Hosts: Valerie Chriske Smith and Liz Wright / Guest: Barbara Ward from Moffatt-Ladd House & Garden
    January 22nd, 2011

Hosts: Valerie Chriske Smith and Liz Wright

One of the great things about Portsmouth is it’s historical preservation. The Moffatt-Ladd House, located downtown, was built between the years 1760 and 1763 and has been open to the public as a historic museum since 1912. One of the many neat facts about the Moffatt-Ladd house is that it belonged to one of New Hampshire’s three signers of the Declaration of Independence. Beautiful gardens surround the house including the original 18th century horse chestnut tree.

Join us on Monday as we welcome Barbara Ward from the Moffatt-Ladd House & Garden to find out more intriguing historical facts and talk about their Warehouse project and much more.

Tune in to Portsmouth At Large with hosts Liz Wright and Valerie Smith alternating Mondays at 9AM, only on WSCA-LP, Portsmouth Community Radio, 106.1 FM on your radio dial and streaming worldwide from www.portsmouthcommunityradio.org.  Educating the public on local non-profits, one non-profit at a time. FIND US ON FACEBOOK
