    The Free Speech Zone - Sunday - January 2nd - 7 - 8 PM - Lives in the Balance - 8 -9 PM - Host: DJ Big Brother
    December 31st, 2010

Tune in to The Free Speech Zone on Sunday night January 2nd at 7 pm to hear an 80 minute Patrick Timpone/One Radio Network interview with Dr. Richard Sauder entitled: What the government is trying to hide?  Dr. Sauder is a native Virginian, with an abiding interest in  Forteana, unusual information and anomalous paradigm-busting data of all varieties. Beginning in early childhood he has experienced first hand contact with a variety of paranormal phenomena that have left him a bit puzzled, flummoxed and thoroughly persuaded that there is much more to the Earth and to human perception and consciousness than the mainstream American culture believes. He is the author of several books, including Hidden in Plain Sight: Beyond The X-Files and The Richard Sauder Briefing. An excellent interview for the open minded!

On WSCA-LP 106.1 FM - Portsmouth Community Radio (streaming via www.portsmouthcommunityradio.org for those outside the broadcast signal limits)

Then stay tuned for some great music on Lives In The Balance from 8 to 9 pm.

Scratchy 45s and Beyond with Supersport - HEARD AT A NEW TIME - Starting Saturday January 1st - 10 AM - Noon
    December 29th, 2010

    …so where do I begin…

I got my handle “The Supersport” back during the mid 70′s, while on CB before the hit single “Convoy” and the related /”CB craze” , as well because my first car was a 1966 Chevy Super Sport. You know, the one with the rear speaker built into the back seat!

I have always loved listening to the radio while growing up in Boston, including DX’ing other “Top 40″ radio stations on AM Radio, way before the Internet.  I am a huge fan of “Top 40″ and “Album Oriented Rock (AOR)” radio, especially during the 60′s - 80′s.  I have not figured out why I never got into radio programming, but given the corporate ”cookie-cutting” techniques that has occurred in radio over the years, I am glad that I did not, as I do not find “corporate” radio very creative, unlike our Seacoast Community Radio station, 106.1 FM - WSCA and wscafm.org.

My show “Scratchy 45′s and Beyond” is meant to capture your memory banks once again, as together, we re-live the music, jingles, and personality-radio you heard back then on your AM-FM transistor radio, while sneaking in a few current tunes here and there.  Join us for our new time slot starting 1/1/2011 at 10 AM (ET) every Saturday.  Requests and your phone calls are always accepted at (603) 430-WSCA.

I hope you listen and really enjoy my show on WSCA - FM 106.1.  Portsmouth and the Seacoast are very lucky to have a Low-Power Community Radio Station.

    And Now Ladies and Gentlemen...”,

     John (Supersport)

Audio Theatre - Tuesday - December 28th - 6-8 PM - New Adventures of Michael Shayne / Jack Benny New Years’ Eve Party / Bob Hope, Bing Crosby, Doris Day - The Swan Show / The Couple Next Door / Host: John Lovering
    December 27th, 2010

Jeff Chandler stars at detective Michael Shayne in this fast action adventure series from 1948.  The setting is New Orleans and the situation involves mayhem, murder, robbery, sinister characters… from start to finish this is an action-packed adventure program like no other you have heard.  Tonight you will hear the “Premier Episode” of this syndicated series, and we bet you will want to hear more!

Bob Hope stars, but his guests include Doris Day and Bing Crosby in this December 1948 broadcast of “The Swan Show.”  This program was broadcast over the Armed Forces Radio Service and as such was not heard by the majority of the American audience.   From beginning to end this half-hour variety show is jam packed with comedy routines, skits, and some popular music sung by two of the most popular singers of the time, Bing and Doris!

Once again we return to the Jack Benny house, but last week it was for a Christmas Party in 1943.  This week it is New Years’ Eve 1945 and we are all invited to Jack Benny’s home once again to join in the festivities.  Also invited are: Mary Livingston, Dennis Day, Don Wilson, Phil Harris, Eddie “Rochester” Anderson, and Mel Blanc.

Finally you will hear an episode of “The Couple Next Door” starring Peg Lynch and Alan Bunce in a December 30, 1957 episode entitled “New Years’ Resolutions”…  Okay, so our unnamed couple make the decision to tell each other one thing that the other person does that really irritates the spouse… and then promise to change that irritating behavior as a New Years’ Resolution… can you see where this is going?   It is going for a lot of laughs!  Tune in.

Join host John Lovering from 6 to 8 pm locally at 106.1 FM or streaming on the Internet at www.wscafm.org

Today’s guest is Dana Hegre who is a senior employment specialist with Career Focus.

Join Ronnie Tomanio, John Eubanks, and Ali Ketcham for this excellent program that is focused on helping people living with disabilities and those who love and care for them.

The Free Speech Zone - Sunday - December 26th - 7-8 PM Followed by “Lives in the Balance” 8-9 PM - Host: DJ Big Brother
    December 23rd, 2010

Tune in to The Free Speech Zone on Sunday night December 26th at 7 pm to hear Glenn Greenwald on The Torture Of Bradley Manning, a Scott Horton/Anti War Radio  interview. Greenwald, a Salon.com blogger and former constitutional lawyer, discusses the inhumane detention conditions of accused WikiLeaks source Bradley Manning, eyewitness accounts of Manning’s deteriorating mental an physical condition, the long term psychological consequences of severe isolation akin to torture, the government’s domestic “shock and awe” campaign of fear and intimidation against dissidents and whistleblowers and why Manning’s draconian imprisonment may be a negotiating tactic to coer testimony against Julian Assange. Second up is: Wikileaks: A Simulation of Net Wars to Come, a Radio Open Source/Christopher Lydon interview with Net thinkers James Der Derian at Brown University and Ron Deibert at the University of Toronto, who are looking for a new lede on the Wikileaks story. Julian Assange, poor devil, is the least of it — even if Bill O’Reilly wants to rip him apart with his bare hands and Vladimir Putin would give him the Nobel Peace Prize.  What’s interesting, in this conversation anyway, is the glimpse of an arms race in cyberspace, and the cautionary lesson in the geopolitics of the Internet.

On WSCA-LP 106.1 FM - Portsmouth Community Radio (streaming via www.portsmouthcommunityradio.org for those outside the broadcast signal limits)

Then stay tuned for some great music on Lives In The Balance from 8 to 9 pm.

Audio Theatre - Tuesday - December 21st - Host: John Lovering - Edgar Bergen/Charlie McCarthy Christmas Show - Christmas At Jack Benny’s House - Songs from Alan Sherman, Stan Freberg, and Eric Cartman
    December 20th, 2010

Edgar Bergen and his little wooden friend, Charlie McCarthy headline tonight’s program in a rebroadcast of a Christmas Day 1955 program.  This 53 minute show features a nine-year old Candice Bergen (Candy) as a special guest.   Of course the photo above shows Candice, but she isn’t nine-years old in this one!  This is an excellent show, lots of skits, music, and comedy.

Next, we all get to board the WSCA Time Machine and go back to 1943 when Jack Benny invites Don Wilson, Mary Livingston, Dennis Day, Mel Blanc, Phil Harris, and of course Eddie “Rochester” Anderson … and oh, US… over to his house on Christmas Day.

Now if you are familiar with Jack’s spending habits (did I write “spending?”) …. you will know that he is the king of the bargain hunters… why
Black Friday was practically named in honor of Jack’s wallet.   It was deep, black, and empty… all his  money was in his vault and  Carmichael the Bear was constantly on guard… so it will be interesting to see what gifts Jack bought for the entire gang.  Whatever he bought, you can bet he will bring some serious smiles for everyone to share!

Finally, we will hear a Christmas Medley unlike most… Alan Sherman (Photo above  - of “Hello Muddah… Hellow Faddah” fame) sings “The Twelve Days of Christmas”… Stan Freberg does his famous  parody about the commercialization of Christmas called “Green Christmas”… got him in a lot of trouble with CBS and his sponsors, and then we hear Eric Cartman from South Park Elementary School sing his classic “O Holy Night”… with the help of his classmates and an electric cattle prod!

Lots of smiles and memories… please join me…  address those last minute cards, bake some cookies, wrap some gifts… and with this show in the background, your Christmas spirit will soar!
Listen locally at 106.1 FM or streaming online at www.wscafm.org and click on “Listen Now” at the top of the page… it will open in your default audio player.

Merry Christmas to All… and thank for listening and supporting Portsmouth Community Radio.    John Lovering

The Free Speech Zone - Sunday - December 19th - 7-8 PM - Followed by Lives in the Balance 8-9 PM - Host: DJ Big Brother
    December 16th, 2010

Tune in to The Free Speech Zone on Sunday night December 19th at 7 pm to hear “The Espionage Act and the Death of American Freedoms”, a Lew Rockwell interview with Naomi Wolf, author of The End of America. Wolf says that the TSA and Wikileaks situations are Master-Slave fights, not Left-Right disputes and the threatened use of the 1917 Espionage Act against Wikileaks founder Julian Assange, a  journalist, signals a rapid escalation on multiple fronts toward the end of liberty for all of us and we must act if we are to have a chance. Secondly, we’ll hear a Scott Horton/AntiWar Radio Interview with Charles Goyette, author of The Dollar Meltdown : Surviving the Impending Currency Crisis with Gold, Oil, and other Unconventional Investments. Goyette discusses Ben Bernanke’s 60 Minutes interview where he declares (with lip-quivering certitude) a “100 percent confidence” the Fed can control inflation; how the Fed filled up on bad assets full of “mystery meat” in their quantitative easing program(s); Republican deficit reduction plans that will be decimated from even a minuscule increase in interest rates; the crisis in fiat money as most of the worlds currencies are debased relative to hard assets; and why Americans are still asleep at the switch while their government actively destroys the economy.

On WSCA-LP 106.1 FM - Portsmouth Community Radio (streaming via www.portsmouthcommunityradio.org for those outside the broadcast signal limits)

Then stay tuned for some great music on Lives In The Balance from 8 to 9 pm.
