Written by Tony Burgess “Pontypool” is a psychological horror/thriller which takes place at a radio station in a small Canadian town. . .if you like “War of the Worlds” then you will love this audio drama! Tune in and get in the mood for Halloween with this darkly interesting audio play.  I will also be playing some Halloween themed show tunes too from Repo! A genetic Opera, Rocky Horror, Wicked, among others. Join me in celebrating my favorite holiday.

Jazz Straightahead - Wednesday - October 27th - 6 to 9 am - Host: Terry MacDonald - Pledge Drive Show
    October 26th, 2010

To all my Jazz Straightahead friends, first of all, thank you! Thank you for listening. Thank you for making me feel good about what I do. And thank you for your past financial support of Portsmouth Community Radio.

You may be wondering, “Is he buttering me up?” Or, as Dave Frishberg would ask it, “Is he slappin’ the cakes on me?” Well, the answer is yes.

Portsmouth Community Radio has been on the air for six years now, and I’ve been doing my show for five of those years. And twice each year, I’ve come to you announcing breezily, “It’s that time again!”

Well, in a way, it is that time again: Pledge Drive time. But in fact, this time is a time like no other. Over the past few years, as the economy has suffered, so have our fund drives and underwriting campaigns. And now we find ourselves with the lowest budget we’ve seen since we went on air.

One example: The FCC and FEMA are now requiring every station to install new digital Emergency Alert System equipment by April1st. The cost of installing this equipment is $1,350. That might not seem like a lot of money, but, frankly, we’re struggling to come up with it.

On Today’s Jazz Straightahead, from 6 to 9 am, in addition to the great music you expect on the program, Angelynne Hinson, one of the hosts of Classical Combinations (Sundays at 8 am) will be joining me on air to help me ask for your donation. And Ann Bliss, one of my co-Trustees, will be in to answer the phones. As will Peg MacDonald, a regular on Jazz Straightahead during these pledge drives.

If you’ve given to the station in the past, I ask you to step up and do it again, at a time when we really need you. If you haven’t given in the past, this is clearly the time to start.

Thanks in advance. And I’ll see you on the radio.
                      Terry

Audio Theatre Special Fall Pledge Drive Show - Tuesday - October 26th - 6 to 8 pm - Special Guest: Chuck Curtis - 603-430-9722 / 603-430-9822/ Secure Online at www.wscafm.org (Credit or Paypal)
    October 25th, 2010

This evening we will present an outstanding celebration of radio theatre entitled  “Radioland” This amazing production has hundreds, and we mean hundreds of clips,  from classic radio shows edited into a one hour production.  It comes to us courtesy of Jim Ratte at www.runawayexpress.com    Jim describes his creation as a “Celebration of Radio Theatre”  and we totally go along with that, because it sure is a “Celebration”… and we want you there to share in the party!

Of course we also want you to support Portsmouth Community Radio that is just beginning it’s 7th year on the air.  We are a non-profit, all volunteer run station and as such depend upon our community of listeners to help support us.  I can tell you that it is more serious this year than ever that you consider making a pledge to Portsmouth Community Radio.   We are in danger of not being here in 2011 if the support is not forthcoming… that is an indication of how much we need your help.

Join host, John Lovering  for the 317th consecutive broadcast of Portsmouth Community Audio Theatre as this evening we present our Special Fall Pledge Drive Show.  My Pledge Drive Partner will be Chuck Curtis,  former radio show host of  ”Send in the Clowns” and veteran actor!   My Phone volunteer will be long time friend and colleague, Mr. Richard Jenisch, retired principal of Strafford School.

Call 603-430-9722  or 603-430-9822 or go online at pledge at our secure site with  credit or Paypal at www.wscafm.org - “Join Online“    We are a 501C3 non-profit, part of the Seacoast Arts and Cultural Alliance,  which means your donation is tax deductible to the full extent of the law AND,  as we believe in the concept of “Community,”  we are going to donate $1 of every pledge to the Seacoast Family Food Pantry.

Our station goal is $20,000.  Audio Theatre’s part in that goal is at least $250.     Please call and help us reach our goal.  Let us know that you appreciate and want to preserve the unique programming Portsmouth Community Radio provides to the Seacoast area of NH and Maine.

    Please help, and Thank you.
    John Lovering

“Don’t Dis’ My Ability” began on November 3rd, 2009… so they are celebrating one year on the air today!  Say “Thank You” and show your support to these wonderful folks who volunteer to produce a show that is for and about people living with disabilities and for those that care for and about them!  There is no other program like this on any local station and in all honesty, Portsmouth Community Radio needs your financial support more now than ever.

Today our hosts welcome Paul Belleulle who worked on NPR and is an actor,  and joining Paul will be Gus Owen who is the documentary film maker that has been working on “Don’t Dis’ My Ability”s Suicide Prevention film.

Please let us know that you want to keep programming like this and all the other unique programs  heard on Portsmouth Community Radio coming your way.  We are a non-profit 501c3 organization and your donation is tax deductible to the full extent provided by law.  In addition, in keeping with the definition of “Community,”  one dollar of every dollar pledged during this drive will go to the Seacoast Family Food Pantry.  Please help… one donation helps out two non-profits within our Seacoast Community!  Thank You.
