This Saturday May 21st on my show Stage Door (9AM-10AM) I will be interviewing local poet, actor and performance artist Alan Wilbar. We will be discussing his role in Northeastern Ballet Theatre’s upcoming production of Midsummer Night’s Dream which is occurring at the Hussey Theater at Noble High School in North Berwick, ME on May 28th. We will also be discussing his inspiring story of his recovery from a traumatic brain injury and how he was able to persevere and have a successful career as a theatrical performer and poet. His play “The Learning Man” has been performed in many areas of the seacoast, tells the story of his injury and how he has been able to prevail.
Be sure to tune in at 9:00AM-10:00AM to hear all about Alan’s inspiring story and his current and future artistic pursuits.
Join hosts Ronnie Tomanio, John Eubanks, and Ali Ketcham as “Don’t Dis’ My Ability” expands to 45 minutes on every other Tuesday beginning today. …so where do I begin…
I got my handle “The Supersport” back during the mid 70′s, while on CB before the hit single “Convoy” and the related /”CB craze” , as well because my first car was a 1966 Chevy Super Sport. You know, the one with the rear speaker built into the back seat!
I have always loved listening to the radio while growing up in Boston, including DX’ing other “Top 40″ radio stations on AM Radio, way before the Internet. I am a huge fan of “Top 40″ and “Album Oriented Rock (AOR)” radio, especially during the 60′s - 80′s. I have not figured out why I never got into radio programming, but given the corporate ”cookie-cutting” techniques that has occurred in radio over the years, I am glad that I did not, as I do not find “corporate” radio very creative, unlike our Seacoast Community Radio station, 106.1 FM - WSCA and wscafm.org.
My show “Scratchy 45′s and Beyond” is meant to capture your memory banks once again, as together, we re-live the music, jingles, and personality-radio you heard back then on your AM-FM transistor radio, while sneaking in a few current tunes here and there. Join us for our new time slot starting 1/1/2011 at 10 AM (ET) every Saturday. Requests and your phone calls are always accepted at (603) 430-WSCA.
I hope you listen and really enjoy my show on WSCA - FM 106.1. Portsmouth and the Seacoast are very lucky to have a Low-Power Community Radio Station.
“And Now Ladies and Gentlemen...”,
John (Supersport)
