Lights Out… Everybody! Our first show this evening will feature Boris Karloff in a March 16th, 1943 Lights Out episode entitled
“The Dream” written and directed by Arch Oboler. In this program a man claims he has never had a dream, until a woman appears to him at night instructing him to kill. The woman’s laugh and scream will chill you to the bone!
Next, the creaking door slowly opens and you are greeted by “the host” (Paul McGrath) as he introduces tonight’s Inner Sanctum
Mystery entitled “The Dark Chamber” starring Kenneth Lynch and directed by Hyman Brown. This series was inducted into the
National Radio Hall of Fame in 1988… listen in and you will know why Inner Sanctum Mysteries was one of the most popular
of all the radio “chiller-thrillers!”
Finally, Ernest Chappell is both the host and the star in a Quiet Please episode written by Wyllis Cooper entitled “If I Should Wake Before I Die.”
This award-winning series features a tale told in the first person in a totally natural style. Chappell was an expert in making the listener believe
the tale of horror was happening to him in real time. This show was first aired on February 27th, 1949 …. it is a top notch program!
