Live From the Farmer’s Market Airing Through the Summer
    July 19th, 2011

From 10:00 to noon every Saturday morning, WSCA will be doing live on-site broadcasts from the Portsmouth Farmers’ Market. Every half hour during the ‘Scratchy 45s’ show, Kim Sedlock and Charlie Griffin will be interviewing a wide variety of the market’s clients and vendors, including newcomers, longtime residents, performers (from the WSCA live music stand), local farmers and craftsmen of all sorts.

We have been asking what people are buying at the market, listening to on community radio, and other ways they are taking advantage of what the greater Portsmouth area has to offer.  So far we’ve heard young people who want to support local farmers by buying direct, a singer from the Prescott Park Arts Festival, and a longtime resident who remembers some of Portsmouth’s first Farmers’ Markets and has watched it evolve.

Kim Sedlock hosts Monday’s ‘A Redhead Spins The Blues’ and Charlie Griffin is a member of the WSCA board. Both are excited to share with you one of Portsmouth’s most unifying and growing traditions, our Farmers’ Market!

Portsmouth Community Radio Launches Live Downtown Broadcast

Starting Friday, July 8th, WSCA is giving listeners the opportunity to appreciate the Seacoast through the eyes of its visitors.

That’s the concept behind “Live From Market Square,” our new summertime weekly broadcast from Me & Ollie’s Bakery/Cafe on Pleasant Street, downtown Portsmouth.  Hosted by Ann Haggart, the half-hour show features interviews with tourists to the area, engaging them in conversation about their lives, their travels, and their perceptions about our part of the world.

Live From Market Square airs on Fridays from 1:00 to 1:30 pm during the summertime months, and will continue up until August 19th.  Kim Sedlock is handling the engineering responsibilities for the program, as well as those of Associate Producer.

Ann Haggart, who is our Director of News & Public Affairs, also hosts the weekly program Radiogazette (Fridays, 9-10 am). Ann has had a long career as a professional educator, is a published co-author of numerous professional articles and a national professional conference presenter.  She lives in Hampton Falls.

“We’re grateful to Me & Ollie’s,” says Ann, “who is not only providing the venue for the new live broadcast, but is also a sponsor of the program.”
