From Terry MacDonald (Board Vice Chair)
Hello, everybody!
On behalf of your Board of Trustees, I hope you’ll join me in expressing our gratitude to Alan Brady for his service during the past year as our Board Chair, at the same time saying congratulations to Ann Bliss, who was elected unanimously as our new Board Chair at Tuesday’s Board meeting.
Alan has committed himself wholeheartedly to Portsmouth Community Radio, leading the Board with energy and passion. He moves on with a record of accomplishments and forward progress for the station on many fronts. Alan, who is a new dad, has recognized that his family commitments must be his priority, and that is where his focus will now be.
Ann Bliss has been a member of the Board for two years and steps up to her role with impressive credentials and community commitment. Ann founded and managed the Seacoast Crisis Response Team, a school and community response network made up of mental health professionals, educators, human service providers, medical professionals, and others interested in children and their community. In that role, she trained at least 300-500 professionals in New Hampshire in Critical Incident Stress Management. Later, she and her husband, Michael Bliss, founded Seacoast Area Renewable Energy Initiative (SEAREI), a non-profit organization devoted to helping homeowners afford and install solar systems using the “barn-raising” concept of neighbor helping neighbor and paying it forward.
“Community, collaboration, and networking have been a central theme in the way I have worked throughout my professional career,” Ann reports. “My style of management is democratic and collaborative.”
When you see Alan and Ann, be sure to say “thank you” and “congratulations” respectively!
Best to all,
Terry MacDonald
