Portsmouth Community Radio has been notified that two sister FM Community Stations WFMU and WBAI were both very hard hit by Sandy. There are a number of ways you can help, and they are outlined on the National Federation of Community Broadcaster’s (NFCB) website (www.nfcb.org) as the top item in the News column, or here: http://www.nfcb.org/help_sandy_stations.jsp .
All community stations have been asked to put a link on their websites to let listeners and supporters of Community Radio know that these stations would appreciate anything we could do to help their situation. Thank you.
WSCA’s own Judy Matthews, Tim Stone and Steve Diamond recorded author and climate activist Bill McKibben who spoke at the Exeter Congregational Church on January 26th, 2012. All seats in the large church were taken.
His message of opportunity and alarm was also a call to action - that we should each roll up our sleeves and referee the money being given to Congressmen by corporate interests.
Listen to the largely unedited, 90-minute talk as an M3U stream (fastest) or as MP3. The Lecture Series Facebook Page has a short video and more info on upcoming events.
The National Homelessness Marathon took place on Portsmouth Community Radio on Wednesday, February 23rd at 6 PM and concluded on Thursday, February 24th at 9 AM. Here Jasper Salach (left) and
Dee Hebert broadcast from the stage at the Vaughan Mall.

The National Homelessness Marathon did not ask for donations… it was an informational event. The goal was to inform and educate people of the breadth and causes of homelessness in America and to promote awareness of the extent of this crisis in America and here in NH and on the Seacoast.
Portsmouth Community Radio broadcast the event live from the Vaughan Mall. A number of guests appeared on the show…some live at the Mall, some live via telephone and some will be pre-recorded.
Rick Dirck, Jasper Salach, Rocky Smith, and Dee Hebert were WSCA’s on-air and engineering crew, and they made this year’s show a tremendous success. Thank you… Events like this demonstrate the true value of Community Radio!
